Art in the underground

There are nicer subway stops than the 14 St. station, but none can top its public art.  Life Underground, one of many public art exhibitions of Tom Otterness, is both peculiar and awesome.  It pops up everywhere around the subway, becoming part of transit life.  It always makes me think, “Yay!”

All hail French mapmaker Florent Morellet for establishing a civilized, round-the-clock diner in the heart of the Meatpacking District.  The menu is fab, the service is top-notch and the brunch (I’ve had it on two occasions in the hazy morning time between 4 and 10 am) is delicious.  The menus are nifty, too.
